Virtual field trips in the Peneda-Gerês National Park (NW Portugal) and its use in Geosciences Education. The widespread use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in Education comes as a result of technological evolution, social pressure and politicaI decisions. The use of these technologies in the Portuguese educational system is discussed in this paper. The application under development - Virtual Field Trips in Peneda-Gerês National Park - results from the actual need of production of portuguese multimedia contents as a tool for Geoscience Education. Its development stages and difficulties are presented in this work.
