Excursion C - The Neogene and Quaternary of Algarve

Abstract
The previous interpretations concerning the Neogene of Algarve have been discussed elsewhere (ANTUNES et aI., 1981). The research done in the fields of Stratigraphy and Paleontology, as well as detailed mapping, have evidenced the need of a thorough revision. As for dating, which is one of the essential aspects, considerable progress has been done based on planktic Foraminifera, calcareous Nannoplankton, Ostracoda, Vertebrata, and KAr (glauconites).
